Sounds from the Ground
Performance event programmed by Arts Catalyst,
SADACCA G-Mill (2024)
Sounds from the Ground was a night of live experimental electronic music by Nkisi, KMRU and Ashley Holmes at SADACCA’s GMill, with sound provided by Sinai Sound System. A night of ambient dream-like noise, dark synthesiser melodies, hyper-modern club sounds and intricate Afrocentric percussion, for what was also the launch of Skylarking, a new record by Sheffield-based artist, DJ and broadcaster Ashley Holmes.
The record and this event were part of Skylarking, an exhibition and public programme by Ashley Holmes, that explores the relationship between landscapes, music and belonging.
Sounds from the Ground is a series of workshops and performances that explore landscapes and ecologies through sound.
